Window of the Sky

"...Break these chains of doubt so that I may gain my wings and fly,
Rising to a higher vibration, continuing to expand my mind..."

- Poem by Apollo Hayden

Sunday morning I awoke before the rising sun, to the sounds of my three Silkie roosters crowing from inside their coop. Various wild birds chirped in accompaniment, from the old oak trees outside my bedroom window. Yoshi and Pakora, our two small dogs, were curled against my legs. As I continued to observe, I heard the floor joists vibrating under the bedroom wool rug, in response to Kameko's snoring from deep in the basement below. Connecting to sounds past my bedroom, and I could hear the horses stirring in their stalls, as the barn is merely 150 feet away from the house. During my quick ten minute check-in this dawn, all was right in my world...surely this is what heaven feels like.

Is heaven an earthly state, an emotional connection, or a spiritual destination for you? I know I am not alone feeling the wonder in that which surrounds me. From the earliest of times, people knew that they were connected to all on earth. Father Sky was above in elements like thunder, wind, clouds, and the shining stars. Mother Earth provided for everything that lived upon her.

The ability to survive today still depends on establishing balanced relations with the animal, plant, and human kingdoms. We are nourished by Mother Earth from birth to death, and moisture and energizing light comes from Father Sky. There is a sacred flow that exists through everything from heaven to earth.

If a person has lost this true connection, there are specific acupuncture points that can be stimulated to help us live and survive peacefully in nature's world. We were not created to live alone in man's world.

“Window of the Sky” or perhaps more suitably called, “Window of Heaven” points, are a group of ten specialized acupuncture points that balance the earthly and heavenly aspects of the body and spirit. Most of the point names include the character Tian (heaven), suggesting a connection to spirit.

Tian Fu–Mansion of Heaven
Tian Chi-Pool of Heaven
Tian You–Window of Heaven
Tian Chuang–Heavenly Window
Tian Rong–Heavenly Manifestation
Fu Tu–Supporting Prominence
Tian Zhu–Heavens Pillar
Ren Ying–Humanities Welcome
Tian Tu–Heavenly Crevice
Feng Fu–Wind Palace

Eight of these points are located around the neck, the junction where the head meets the body. These specific locations ensure that the points, are uniquely qualified to address emotional issues where there is impaired communication between the heart and mind. Stimulating these points helps with finding one's voice, connecting a person to their spiritual self, as well as mediating between one's thoughts, actions, and feelings.

I have come to regard these Windows of Heaven points as having deep emotional and spiritual effects. By “opening the window,” we are supported to see beyond the obscurities that have clouded our view. The energetic gate is open to the higher spirit of heaven, providing:

  • relaxation and greater calmness

  • vivid dreams

  • acceptance

  • mental clarity

Join us here on Fat Dog Farm, as we honor the spiritual significance of the Windows of the Sky points. They govern harmony between mind and spirit. In this connection, we celebrate that we are one with the soils, one with the wind that blows the blades of grass, and one with the animals who graze upon the field. Yes, we have the opportunity to experience the effect of opening the energetic gate to the higher spirit of heaven via an acupuncture treatment. We also have this opportunity through the wisdom and understanding of living a life with all of nature!
